ZEROIZE THE COMPUTER
This PAM selection deletes all data that is stored inside of the computer
unit.
Use this selection at the end of each session after storing data.
Once Zeroize is selected, the screen displays:

The zeroization takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
IMPORTANT: If the zeroize feature cannot be initiated due to the CPU unit
needing maintenance, perform the following passive zeroization before
beginning maintenance actions.
1. Remove the battery cover on the CPU.

2. Note three small pins located on the bottom of the back of the battery near
the middle.
3. Note the connector over the left and middle pins.
4. Remove the connector.
5. Replace the connector, covering them middle and right pins.
This process disconnects the battery backup to the unit. Refer to the
PORTABLE PLUS OWNERS DOCUMENTATION and Appendix F of this document regarding
the connection of the battery and additional information.
The first time the machine is turned on after a zeroization, the operator is
presented the following message:
WARNING: Memory Lost! Press [f1] to reformat drive A: (destroying data) or press
the space bar to continue without reformatting (data errors on A: may result).
Press <fl> and continue with normal operations.
ZEROIZATION RESETS THE SYSTEMS CONFIGURATIONS. VERIFY YOUR DATA
CONFIGURATION AND YOUR SYSTEM CONFIGURATION AFTER A ZEROIZE IS PERFORMED.

This PAM selection gives you access to MS-DOS commands. Use this option to
perform any DOS operating system commands. (See Appendix K.)
