TM 11-5895-1412-12&PTROUBLESHOOTING THE PRINTERProvided below is a list of the possible error conditions which may exist dueto printer malfunction.In most Instances, performing the corrective actiondescribed will eliminate the problem. If the problem persists, however, theprinter should be sent to higher level of maintenance for repair.Error Condition1.Red power light “off”or flashing2.Yellow attention light“on” continuously.3.Yellow attention lightblinking.4.Printer does notrespond to computerCorrectIon ActionEnsure that the battery pack is installedcorrectly and the power switch is turned on.If the power light remains “off,” thebattery pack should be recharged.If the power light is blinking, the batterypack should be recharges.Load paper Into the printer. Theattention light will begin blinking.Press the blue button.The print headcarriage will move and the attention lightwill turn off.Remove any obstruction from around the printhead carriage and push the blue button again.If the attention light continues blinking,the printer is signaling an error conditionand should be sent to a higher level ofmaintenance for repair.Make sure that the power light is “on” orblinking and the attention light is “off.”If this is not the case, refer to ErrorConditions 1 through 3 above.Verify that the printer is operational byrunning the self test as described inOperator’s Section (Self Test).Verify that the HP-IL cables are properlyconnected.Then repair the procedure forassigning the printer as your system’s printdevice.This procedures is explained forseveral different HP systems in theAppendices to this manual. Your computermay not be sending the printer a carriagereturn and line feed at the end of eachline.In this case the printer willcontinue storing data because it neverrecognizes the end of the line.3-8
